Storm leaves its mark on Natalia

Storm 8/19/25

An eerie image of the storm cell from August 19th as it approaches the campuses.

Natalia was left with quite a clean up after a powerful storm cell with high winds and heavy downpours arrived on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 just as students were dismissed for the day.

NISD staff jumped into quick action to protect our Mustangs.

Damage was spread across Natalia, and many residents, as well as the high school, had to deal with power outages for hours after the storm passed.

High school staff member Jennifer Lujan explained that while they did not suffer any major damage, “The wind did blow our personal items all over and everything was very wet.” She also said their power was out for about 5 hours, coming back on around 9 pm.

One of the big oak trees by the pavilion by the high school also lost a huge limb. The same tree lost another large limb last school during a dangerous storm as well.

Thankfully, our maintenance staff and the public works department made a quick clean up of the debris left strewn across the town.

K-pop Demon Hunters: A Movie Review

kpop

"K-pop Demon Hunters" is now streaming on Netflix. (Photo credit: Netflix.)

On June 20, 2025, Sony Pictures Animation released the “K-pop Demon Hunters” movie, while also, unknowingly, making history as well. The director, Maggie Kang, had actually admitted to having significant worries about how viewers would “receive” the film, not expecting it to receive over 180 Million views in only three weeks!

The film “K-pop Demon Hunters,” is a movie about 3 young women who face unexpected challenges, while together and apart, learning how to overcome their inner “demons” and accept and be true to oneself by the end of the movie. With its theme, animation, and storytelling, it left its viewers seeing it as a rare movie that's both respectful and sentimental while still being able to be amusing. With the twist of animation, romance, action, and k-pop music it has been able to bring in and resonate with all kinds of different people, despite it being designed mainly for a younger audience.

Overall, the movie has become a huge hit for Sony, especially the #1 hit song from the movie “Golden”. Becoming the first K-pop song to hit #1 on “Billboard Hot 100” ever! This is a wonderfully made movie that definitely deserves your time and money. You can now stream it on Netflix.
